Cosplay Train ExpressIf you are a convention goer and cosplay fan (like I am), then I have a treat for you! Angry Goat Productions is rolling out the Cosplay Train Express this year–an amazing train ride from Los Angeles to San Diego during Comic-Con International that features cosplay, booze, celebrities, and more!

The Cosplay Train Express is a unique 21+ event that coincides with Comic-Con International in San Diego, though SDCC badges are not required (or included) so it makes for both a great add-on or alternative experience during SDCC. There are rides all four days of the con, July 21-24th. Tickets range from $199 to $399 and includes a round trip from Los Angeles to San Diego and back, swag, hors d’oeuvres, beverages, cosplayer meet and greets, and celebrity appearances.

Riders chose from one of four cars to buy tickets for–Wizard Express, Heroes vs Villains, Sci-fi Universe, or TRAXX Celebrity Lounge–each with their own unique flavor and theme. These are private railcars that have been specially chosen and outfitted to align with the theme (for example, the Wizard Express car has house specific rooms to choose from–go Ravenclaw!).

William Kircher (of The Hobbit fame) is the MC for the train ride and fans will get a chance to rub elbows not only with him, but with the other celebrity guests as well including Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar (though only the TRAXX car will have Q&A and autographs with the celebrities). More celebrity guests will be announced as the con gets closer but there will also be special VIP celebrity guests that will only be announced to riders on the day of their ride.

The daily itinerary for the train ride is as follows:

Cosplay Train Itinerary

In addition to the actual train rides and events during the ride, during the day between arrival and departure, the train cars will be parked near the convention center and will function as sort of “pop-up shops.” There will be a cosplay green room open to any cosplayers who need to do repair work, there will be food and beverages available, a barber shop, and a Face Off type event! I know I’ll be spending some time at the train during the day

The Cosplay Train Express is, in my opinion, a great value for your money. It’s not a whole lot more than what you’d spend on a normal train ride with a ton of extra fun and excitement. It can definitely enhance your con experience and save you the pain of driving and parking. And it can also be a great alternative experience if you couldn’t get a badge but still want a taste of the SDCC experience this year.
