Two great things come together in Atlanta. Come and play some games with us June 10-12, 2016!

As you may have read, Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo is bringing tabletop in the form of the GeekDad Tabletop Experience. And now, all of the details are available!

First off, there will be two great tabletop guests–John Kovalic, of Dork Tower and Munchkin fame, and Jason Anarachy, creator of Drinking Quest and Haiku Warrior. Kovalic will be featured in two panels, “From Munchkin to Dork Tower: John Kovalic’s World” and “Out of the Box: John Kovalic,” talking about all the great work he’s done, and some of the stuff he does outside of gaming and comics. Anarchy will be hosting his “DIY Game Design: Bringing Punk Rock to Tabletop” panel.

Anarchy and I will also be doing a LIVE playthrough of Drinking Quest (most likely the Trilogy Edition, but possibly the prototype of Journey Into Draught). We will need a couple of volunteers from the audience to come up and round out our party. A drink, preferably a beer, will be required to play!

We’ll also have a couple of panels talking to indie game designers about their process and games, as well as showings of two tabletop related movies–Going Cardboard and The Next Great American Game.

There will even be a GeekDad panel “GeekDad: Raising Geek Generation 2.0” with GeekDad writers Jim Kelly, Z, Preston Burt, and myself.

You can check out the full SFGE 2016 schedule here!

And if panels aren’t your thing, there will be plenty of ways to play games! We are going to have a ton of demos going on all weekend. I’m even going to be running a couple of sessions of my homemade Star Wars RPG for kids! We are also going to be running a “Play and Win.” Anybody who plays one of our Play and Win games to completion will be entered into a drawing to win that copy of the game!

SFGE will also have a huge tabletop gaming library that is open all weekend long–Yes, 24 hours a day!–along with a ton of demos of some great games. We are still looking for volunteers and Game Masters to run demos, so if you’re interested, check out the sign-up sheet.

One little bonus for anyone reading this far, Anarchy and I will be breaking out my original copy of Hero Quest late at night in the tabletop area, so if you want to relive your childhood or just play a great old game for some nostalgia, track us down and join us.

I’d also like to say thank you and give a shout out to the companies who have helped us out so far with games for both the Play and Win and for demos! The list keeps growing, but you can expect to see some of the best games these companies make.

Make no mistake, there will be more than enough tabletop gaming to fill your entire weekend, but there is also plenty more to experience at SFGE as well. I know I’ll try to take a couple of breaks to grab some arcade and console time. Visit SFGE to find out more about the rest of the show!
