Did the 'Star Wars: Rebels' Help the Resistance?

We just finished watching the LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises mini-series, and I may have found evidence that the Rebels had a hand in helping the Resistance!

LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises is a mini-series of five shorts that each focus on a specific set of characters and provide a little bit of backstory right before the beginning of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Episode 1: “Poe to the Rescue”

The first episode focuses on Poe, C-3PO, and BB-8 rescuing Admiral Ackbar from the clutches of the First Order. C-3PO uses every opportunity to mention his new red arm, but we never learn why he has it (though he does mention it would make a great story for a book). Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma also both have a little bit of screen time. Admiral Ackbar’s ship, the Daisy Mae, from LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales also makes an appearance during the escape. I really love how Disney XD puts in little things like this to tie their series together.

Episode 2: “The Trouble with Rathtars”

The second episode gives us a little more background on Han, Chewie, and the rathtars. Apparently they started out with a lot more than three, but because they are such a handful–always breaking out, trying to eat things (and them)–several get lost along the way. Which explains what happens later.

Episode 3: “Hunting for Han”

Apparently Han promised rathtars to a lot of different people (not just the Guavian Death Gang and Kanjiklub), and everybody is looking for him. This episode takes place in Maz’s castle, and the entire room wants a piece of Han for being cheated at one time or another. Maz asks why they keep dealing with Han if he’s such a scoundrel to which they reply that he is roguish and charming. Maz cannot argue that one calling him a Silver Fox. Lando also makes an appearance, sending everyone to Jakku to look for Han. The best part of this episode though is seeing Maz wield Luke’s lightsaber.

Episode 4: “Rey Strikes Back”

Meanwhile, on Jakku, Rey is fed up with Unkar Plutt and his stinginess when he won’t give her the Corellian 1138-series (nice 1138 reference) Transducing Flux Generator. She goes off to scavenge more and he sends some goons after her. She handily deals with them just as everyone from Episode 3 shows up and heads for the Millenium Falcon looking for Han.

During the chase scene through the familiar port on Jakku where Rey and Finn later find the Millenium Falcon is this quick shot. This ship takes off in a hurry with no explanation. Comparing it to a product shot of the actual LEGO Ghost set, I think it is unmistakable that this ship IS the Ghost. Does this mean that the Rebels were the ones who delivered the information about Luke to Jakku? Or was this simply a nice little easter egg for fans?

Episode 5: “Attack of the Conscience”

In the last episode, we get to experience First Order Trooper training through Finn’s eyes. The seeds of his conscience and unwillingness to keep his helmet on are repeated to great comedy effect while Captain Phasma and the other troopers try to keep him in line.

Overall the series doesn’t add a whole lot plot-wise to the Star Wars universe, but it’s certainly a fun little romp through some of the backstory on the main characters from The Force Awakens.
