After building my high-end virtual reality PC, I needed a new keyboard and mouse to match. Razer sent along its BlackWidow X Chroma for review, and this keyboard is a treat! However, much of what makes this keyboard stand out are its lighting effects and clicky keys, both of which are impressive and difficult to describe in an article. I’m typing on it right now, watching lights emanate in ripples outward from every key I touch and it’s amazing. The keys are making delightful sounds that I really can’t convey to you properly with the written word. So, for this review, you’re better off watching what I have to say about the BlackWidow X Chroma in the following video review. I have some extra info to add afterwards, but really, watch the video. I’ll wait.

While I covered the key points of awesome in the video, I wanted to add that Razer has a developer portal that allows users to fully program the keyboard. So, if there is some really cool lighting effect you want to make that you can’t achieve through the Chroma Configurator, and you don’t mind jumping into a bit of C code, you can register and create the light show of your dreams. But before you do, make sure you check out the apps made by the community; someone might have already made what you’re looking for, like an audio visualizer that flashes your keyboard to your system sounds.

You can pick up the BlackWidow X Chroma from Amazon or from Razer’s web store. Happy clicking!
