ACFilm-TitleIn case you missed it, the world premiere of the Assassin’s Creed movie trailer dropped last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

If you’re a fan of the Assassin’s Creed games, you’ve no doubt, like me, been very nervous about how the movie was going to run out. After watching the trailer, I let out a huge sigh of relief. Everything I wanted and hoped to see from an AC film is in this trailer, so I expect more of all of this goodness. This will most definitely not be a movie for small children.

ACFilm-FemmeWrist blades? Check. Death from above? Check. Leap of Faith? Check (though we don’t see how he sticks the landing). Gorgeous visuals of historical locales? Check. Badass female assassins? Check. Michael Fassbender as Callum/Aguilar (new characters for the movie) looks great as does Ariane Labed as Maria.

ACFilm-AnimusAside from the breathtaking leap of faith shot in the trailer, one of my favorite things about this sneak peek is the Animus. While a completely passive, lay-on-a-bench way of experiencing these worlds may appeal to a lot of people, a fully interactive,three-dimensional animus appeals to me a lot more. It also looks a lot cooler on screen! I could do with a more appropriate soundtrack though.

ACFilm-LeapWhat if you aren’t a fan of the games or know nothing about them? Is this a movie for you? If you’re into cool visuals, some medieval and Renaissance history, lots of action and murder with some sci-fi and conspiracy theory thrown in, then, yesAssassin’s Creed hits theaters December 21, 2016. I know what I’m doing for Christmas!
