You may not associate Atlantic City, NJ, with comic book cons, but there’s a whole lot of talent rolling into 1 Convention Boulevard the weekend of May 13th. That Friday through Sunday, May 15, is the second annual Atlantic City Boardwalk Con, and there’s really something there for everyone. Every geek parent is going to jump at the Kidz Zone, a dedicated area of the show floor for your junior geeks, complete with a Sunday costume contest. By the way, kids under 9 are free to attend with purchase of an adult ticket (2 kids per ticket, don’t be greedy, people).
My favorite part of any comic book convention is Artist’s Alley (more accurately called Creators Alley at ACBC), and ACBC is going to have some great guests. I’m particularly excited to see Jamal Igle, creator of Molly Danger–to whom I owe an interview. I guess some people might be more excited to see Edward James Olmos, Teddy Sears, or Drea de Matteo. All three of these celebs also have panels planned, and there are great workshops on cosplaying, puppetry, stage sort combat, and building your own droid. There will also be vendors of all sorts, so bring your spending money!
Speaking of cost, tickets are available for a range of prices. There are even two types of 3-day passes. VIP for $115 and a regular for $65. The VIP comes with some perks, but personally, I’m cheap.
But maybe you’re cheaper than I am, and want to get free tickets? Then you found the right place! ACBC has partnered with us on a ticket giveaway. We will be giving away four pairs of tickets between now and April 28th. All we need is your name and e-mail address and winners will be selected randomly.
Yes, please!
