First Three ‘Fallout 4’ DLC Announced

FO4-FeaturedBethesda just dropped some details about the first three Fallout 4 add-ons as well as their long-term plans for more add-ons and season pass pricing changes.

As our readers know by now, I am a big Fallout 4 fan, and while I haven’t been playing it as much as I have previous Fallout games (I didn’t have a small child then), my wife and I do love the game, and I’ve been eagerly anticipating the new add-ons.

Fallout4DLC-AutomatronThe first three add-ons will be released one each month for the next three months. March’s add-on will be $9.99 and is called Automatron. In Automatron, the Mechanist has unleashed a horde of robots on the Commonwealth. Taking them out will gain you robot parts to build your own custom robot companions–limbs, armor, weapons, paint jobs, and voices included. I have to admit, this sounds like a lot of fun. I think I’ll run around yelling “Frakkin’ toasters!” as I play this add-on.

Fallout4DLC-WorkshopThe second add-on, Wasteland Workshop, drops in April and will be $4.99. This expansion will allow you to build and set traps to capture live creatures. Once captured, you can tame them or have them fight each other. I wonder if deathclaws are good at harvesting food in settlements–those claws are like a living combine. Additional new settlement options will also be included. This one seems more like a nice to have than one I really need but at only $4.99 or part of a season pass, it will be fun to play with.

Fallout4DLC-FarHarborThe last of the newly announced DLCs is Far Harbor, coming in May for $24.99. That sounds like an awful lot for an add-on, but this is the largest landmass add-on Bethesda has ever done, complete with more faction quests, settlements, higher level armor and weapons, and much more. It sound like this will feel like almost a whole additional game. Would I pay $24.99 for a whole Fallout game? Heck yeah! And if you get the season pass now, this is even more worth it!

Probably the most important part of this update, though, is the price change for the season pass. The season pass is currently priced at $29.99. Because of the expanded amount of new content planned ($60 worth of DLC), the price will be going up to $49.99 on March 1, 2016. If you’ve already paid, you’re set and will get all planned add-ons. If you haven’t yet but wanted to, now is the time to order it. If you order before March 1st, you’ll get all the content at the current price.

And if you still aren’t convinced or want to try to get them for free, head over to Bethesda.net to sign-up to beta test them. If selected, you’ll get the entire add-on and not have to buy anything!

Lastly, this probably goes without saying but the DLC will be rated the same as the rest of the game–Mature. There is an overabundance of blood and gore, violence, drug use, nudity, cursing–everything you’d expect from FalloutFallout is the opposite of a family-friendly game.
