With the 2016 presidential election brouhaha already in full swing, Tabletip Games just launched a Kickstarter project for their upcoming game SuperPACS.

SuperPACS takes players to a farcical land centered on politics and the games politicians play. From shady financial institutions to lobbyists and politicians, the game lampoons the US political process in surprisingly accurate satire.

Players choose a faction leader and attempt to gain Power – the currency of the game – through any means necessary. You can choose actions such as Sneak, Embezzle, Exploit, Fundraise, or if all else fails, Campaign. There’s also a Surprise mechanic that lets you interrupt another player’s turn to perform dastardly deeds. Periodic election events allow players to compete for the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Much like real life, all of the political maneuvering and backstabbing eventually leads to the White House. Once a player wins the Presidential Election card, the game is over and the player with the most Power wins.

While the satire occasionally hits close to home, the humor never becomes mean-spirited and the gameplay is fun. I quite like the art style on the cards, and the overall aesthetic of the game reminds me of board games from the 1980s.

If you enjoy poking fun at the American political system whilst simultaneously becoming a master pundit, SuperPACS is for you. Check out the Kickstarter here for more information.
