After attending last year’s event–a feat that was as exciting as it was exhausting–I have decidedly not been following CES 2016. Such a flood of new products and information seems to flow from the hallowed halls of the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center that it takes an astounding effort to truly absorb it all–even from afar. Plus GeekDad Randy’s on-site, and I’m really just relying on him to point me toward the new hotness.
That being said, I have been keeping my eyes peeled for mentions of one device in particular, the Mcor ARKe.
Look, there are a lot of 3D printer guys here at GeekDad, and I ain’t one of them. However, when I got early word of a compact creation that is paper-based, as opposed to relying on plastic extrusion or resin powder, my interest was piqued.
Billing itself as “the world’s first full-color desktop 3D printer,” the Mcor ARKe promises photorealist color with no harmful particle emissions or toxic materials. Further, the printed models themselves are fully recyclable.
It certainly makes for an impressive offering, at least on paper–See what I did there?–but apparently it’s received a warm welcome on the show floor as well. The Mcor ARKe has just been named a CES 2016 Best of Innovation Awards Honoree in the 3D Printing Product category.
