Today, we break out the noisemakers and party hats to celebrate National Polka Dot Day! (Yes, it’s a real thing.) And I don’t know about you, but when I think of polka dots, I think of the queen of pink polka dots: Minnie Mouse.

So, to truly celebrate this holiday in style, we welcome the voice of Minnie Mouse herself, Russi Taylor, to the show!

Russi took over the role of Minnie in 1986, which makes her the longest-running and most established voice of Minnie Mouse in the character’s history…and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Indeed, immediately after our interview, Russi recorded dialogue for the upcoming Disney Junior show Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

In addition to voicing the classic Disney character, Russi is also the voice behind Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby on DuckTales; Gonzo on Muppet Babies, Martin Prince and the twins Sherri and Terri on The Simpsons; and others too numerous to count.

Disney isn’t letting National Polka Dot Day pass them by, either. In honor of the day, Disney Channel and Disney Junior will present a full day of Minnie-themed programming, which will include three new Minnie’s Bow-Toons shorts and Minnie-centric episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

There will also be a special sneak peek of a new Mickey Mouse short – “Couple Sweaters” – available on the WATCH Disney Channel app. In the short, Mickey wears matching sweaters with Minnie to make her happy on their date, even though it’s the world’s most uncomfortable sweater.
