EMP Museum’s 2016 Campout Cinema lineup includes Purple Rain, Spaceballs, and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
There are a lot of movie campout events around the country, but the weather here in Seattle isn’t exactly conducive to outdoor movie watching. That’s why EMP Museum has been doing an annual Campout Cinema lineup inside their Sky Church theater.
EMP’s Sky Church is a ginormous screen inside an acoustically designed amphitheater with plenty of floor space. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, pillows, cushions, and sleeping bags from home (but no chairs) to get comfy. There are themed rinks and photo ops before each screening and during intermission–as well as trivia, giveaways, and other surprises–and every Campout Cinema event offers a unique and themed movie-going adventure.
Check out the full schedule below. Some of the screenings are 21+ only, but several are all ages and also include admission to relevant museum galleries during the event. I’m really looking forward to taking the whole family to see Spaceballs on May 4th–what better day to watch it?! It’s always fun to get to see a classic favorite on the big screen, and EMP’s Campout Cinema is the perfect film watching experience for these classics.
