I live in the Pacific Northwest and am frequently outside when temperatures are cold enough to need gloves. I am also on my phone 99% of the time. These two things rarely work well together. I’ve tried several pairs of gloves that were supposed to be touchscreen-friendly but have always found them lacking. This is why, for the past few years, I’ve been wearing a pair of gloves I modified to have flip top fingers. While not ideal, it’s done the job of mostly keeping my hands warm while allowing me to use my phone.
However, I’m tired of warm hands and numb fingertips, so when Glider Gloves reached out to us about their gloves, I jumped at the chance to try out some new glove technology. The Glider Gloves have three important features–a conductive yarn to allow touchscreen functionality, anti-slip grip dots on the palms and fingers, and multiple layers to keep your hands warm.
Although at first glance they look very much like a pair of stretch gloves, Glider Gloves are much more. Because of how thick and warm they are, they are not as stretchy as those cheap stretch gloves you see everywhere. They also have a much longer cuff, which is nice for making sure there is no wrist gap between your glove and jacket.
The anti-slip grip is also great. I’m a bit clumsy when it comes to my phone, and I’ve dropped my phone more times than I can remember. (I’ve gone through many, many phone cases–thankfully they all did their jobs and my phone has survived.) The anti-slip on these gloves ensures your phone is firmly in your grasp.
And the most important feature, of course, is the capacitive touch capability. I’ve been using these gloves for the past week, and, so far, I’ve not had any issues with being able to use my phone fully while wearing the gloves. Even playing Fallout Shelter works perfectly. (How’s your vault doing?)
My office can get a little chilly as well, so I’ve even been using the gloves while working on my computer, and, thankfully, the Glider Gloves aren’t too bulky to work fine with my full-sized keyboard.
One little bonus feature that shows how much care and thought went in to these gloves is the tag. Yes, the tag. The tag on the gloves has care instructions, as expected, but is also an actual microfiber screen wipe cloth! I almost cut the tag off out of habit, but stopped short when I read the tag. And it actually works!
