The Great Big Beautiful Podcast, Episode 36: Bill Farmer
You can listen on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and YouTube; you can follow the RSS feed; or you can listen right here!
Gawrsh! This week, we sit down with Bill Farmer, the voice of Goofy himself!
We cover some serious ground here, talking about his career from when he was a young kid learning tricks of the voiceover trade from the legendary Daws Butler through his initial audition for the role of Goofy in 1987 to living with Disney Legend status both on screen and in real life.
Best known as the voice of Goofy (ah-hyuck), Bill is also the voice of Pluto, Horace Horsecollar, and Doc on Disney Junior’s The 7D.
We chat about his background in stand-up comedy and impressions, taking over an iconic voice that is universally recognized, whether a career as Goofy was what he ever envisioned for himself, and the pros and cons of anonymity in the voiceover business.
And we finish things off with a good old-fashioned impression challenge. Want to hear Bill’s take on Yoda? How about Obama or Bullwinkle? You know you do.
**Reminder that if you leave us an iTunes comment/review between now and when our episode with Ian Doescher airs (hint: next week), you could win a copy of Shakespeare Star Wars: The Phantom of Menace!
