The Dice Section #29: Let Me Tell You About My ‘Shadowrun’ Character

A whole lot of d6

The Dice Section is a podcast about games–tabletop, video, whatever–and what makes them great. Together with my co-hosts, Dave Kirby, Natania Barron, and Jonathan Wood, we hang out and talk about what we’ve been playing and why. We go in-depth with the games we love and explain what’s so special about them, how they fit in with our own personal day-to-day stories, and why we keep coming back to the table to play.

In this episode, our first after a long summer vacation, we discuss those moments in role-playing games–video and tabletop–that made us stop and think. As young players, the idea of character dilemmas and a satisfying story were the stuff of gaming legend. Now that we’re all growed up, we realize that it can happen, but it takes a special group and a GM willing to let go of a little control.

We also joke a lot about how many dice you roll in Shadowrun. As you do.
