Possibly due to the more niche appeal of Animal Crossing–as opposed to, say, Super Smash Bros.–or the fact that they are, y’know, mostly made of paper, Happy Home Designer amiibo cards seem far easier to find than their traditional figurine counterparts.
Sure, right now Amazon sellers seem to be price gouging, but a cursory search shows that they’re still available for MSRP via the online stores (and at some brick and mortar locations) of retailers like Best Buy and GameStop. Still, if you haven’t been able to locate them in your neck of the woods, or if you’re just curious about the product, I thought I’d share my own findings.
Yesterday four packs of cards arrived on my front porch. Three I pre-ordered from Amazon, and the fourth was provided by Nintendo to accompany my review copy of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
As indicated on the packaging, each pack contains six cards: five regular animal neighbors and one special NPC card. The former are printed on standard cardstock, while the latter, which feature fan favorites like Tom Nook and DJ K.K., boast a glittery sheen that helps them easily stand out from the competition.

Not bad, all things considered. Sure, I didn’t get an Isabelle–which my seven-year-old certainly wasn’t thrilled about–but I also only ended up with a single duplicate: that incorrigible rodent Limberg.
With 100 cards in series one, I still have a long way to go to complete my collection, but it’s already off to an enjoyable start.
