Portland Mini Maker Faire

Portland’s Mini Maker Faire is coming up soon! Held at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) as usual, this year’s Maker Faire will be on September 12 and 13. The weekend will also celebrate the opening of Portland’s newest bridge, the Tilikum Crossing, along with the new OMSI MAX (light rail) station.

More than 140 Makers will show off their cool creations, including several returning exhibitors like the Tesla coil, R2D2 Builders Club, and the Yarn Car. There will be a food cart pod again, plus a beer garden. I’ve also gotten word of a few anticipated highlights like Martin Montesano’s Walking Beast and this crazy Clock Ship Tere:

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 youth (ages 3-17) and seniors. Two day passes are $25 for adults, $15 for youth and seniors. OMSI members get 50% off tickets.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend it myself this year because of a conflicting event, but I’ve really enjoyed taking my kids the past few years. If you’ll be in Portland next weekend, you should swing by and take a look!
