One of my favorite party games is Schmovie. It is easy to play, difficult to mess up, and can be suitable for all ages. It can also be a little racy and a lot of fun after the kids go to bed and the adult beverages start flowing. In case you haven’t seen it before, Schmovie is the hilarious game of outlandish movies. Or so the box says. Gameplay is easy. Players take turns as the producer by rolling a die to choose the genre of the movie. Two cards are flipped, one adjective and one noun. The players must then think up movie titles for subjects like a hipster lunch lady or a genetically enhanced meteorologist.

In honor of Father’s Day, the makers of Schmovie have agreed to give away a copy of the game to two lucky GeekDad readers. Fill out the form below for a random chance to win. Winning entries must have a US shipping address please. I’ll choose at least two winners on Sunday evening around 8pm central time.

Once you’ve entered, head down to the comments and let us know what your favorite party game is!

  1. I’m not much into party games, myself. I am in introvert after all. But My wife and kids dig games. Current favorite of the Younger Extroverted One is whatever pops into her head at any given time. It’s kinda stressful.

  2. I recently found a game called Concept. It’s basically charades but on a board with pictures and cubes, so much fun. Times Up is a very close second too.

  3. I like more of the bluffing games, like Resistance:Avalon and 2 Rooms and a Boom. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but Sheriff of Nottingham looks amazing!

  4. We play the obligatory “Cards Against Humanity” or a game we backed on Kickstarter at the end of last year called “Bucket of Doom” which is like CAH with a storytelling element.

  5. Where do I begin? Mario Party is a great time even with the kids. Everyone loves Yahtzee. That’s a math skill builder right there. Buzz Quiz TV is fun even when no one knows some of the answers.

  6. And the winners are: JohnP from MD and CharleyS from MA.

Congrats and I’ll have the Schmovie people send a game in each of your directions!

    1. Hey, that’s me! The box just showed up in the mail today with my copy of Schmovie and it confused the heck out of me for a few minutes as I had totally forgotten entering this drawing 🙂 I was just looking through it and it looks like a pretty fun party game for nerdy movie buffs. I’ll definitely pull it out for my next game night and see what people think of it.

      Thanks!

      1. I just got my copy as well. It caught me by surprise. My wife is a big movie buff, so im looking forward to playing this next time we have friends over for game night.

        Thank you Anton!
