When it comes to compelling documentary programming, Vice have really stepped up into the spotlight as one of the most interesting, thorough and investigative news sources out there. Vice Media has done so well in fact, that HBO, the kingmaker of the documentary genre recently announced a major extension to their popular Vice series, a commitment to run multiple, long-form Vice produced specials, a five-day-a-week Vice newscast and a Vice branded channel on their HBO Now digital service.
As part of their American Obsessions series, the newest short-form Vice web documentary explores a major part of geek culture by looking into the more than twenty year phenomenon of Magic: The Gathering. Profiling a few Magic pro tour players as well as some purist players of vintage Magic, this fun little doc provides a glimpse into what many deem the “perfect game.”
