It was bound to happen sometime. The great Disney cartoon show Phineas and Ferb, now nearly eight years after its premiere, is coming to a close. Fear not, however, for not only will it go out with a special hour-long episode, but Disney has announced that, starting in 2017, a new cartoon show from the minds of Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh called Mikey Murphy’s Law will make its debut.

Leading up to “Last Day of Summer” – which, really, is the only title the series finale for the show could have – Disney XD will air a 73 hour-long marathon of ever Phineas and Ferb story ever told. The marathon will begin on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 8:00pm ET/PT, and run through Friday, June 12 at 9:00pm ET/PT, when the finale will air – simulcast on Disney Channel. The finale is described in the press release thusly:

In the one-hour Phineas and Ferb episode titled “Last Day of Summer,” the summer season is coming to a close and it’s Candace’s last chance to bust her brothers. She is quickly foiled, but is presented with an opportunity to redo the day when she sets off Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s Do-Over-Inator, which results in other consequences like rips in the space-time continuum, the shortening of days and the disappearance of her brothers.

The new series Mikey Murphy’s Law, which, alas, we have to wait two years to watch, is described as being about “Mikey, the fictional great-great-great-great grandson of the Murphy’s Law namesake,” and will air on Disney XD.

  1. Actually, the show won’t be over completely, considering Povenmire said they’ll just be going on a hiatus afterwards and that it’s simply the season finale. Not to mention they’re still recording! [True, they don’t have any P&F-related plans for after that episode for now, but they did say it’s not completely over]

    1. They’re going to do one special called “OWCA Files,” but it’s not strictly “Phineas and Ferb.” And I’m informed by Swampy himself that yes, the show is ending. Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news.

  2. The image you selected here Matt is going to be the wallpaper for my son’s laptop. Sad news, but what a great ride and legacy for those folks.

  3. P&F is a great show. There really isn’t enough shows like it on television these days.
