Sometimes, responsible adults just want to experience adventure. Whether it’s Dungeons & Dragons, LARPing, or camping on the weekend, the Cube from Enevu is a great tool for the modern adventurer.
The Cube is a 2″ cubical light designed to produce a steady light for about 11 hours on high, and up to 48 hours in “emergency flash” mode. I’m totally in love, dudes. Considering the price-point ($29.90 each on Amazon), the Cube is an affordable solution for most personal lighting needs.
I detest using my very expensive iPhone as a flashlight; I have better uses for its power, and I’m always afraid I’m going to drop the fragile son of a gun. Even with great protection, I don’t want to drop it. The Cube, on the other hand, is a light plastic unit, and totally sturdy enough for falls from several feet.
My favorite part, though, is the color-shifting option. If you scroll through the lighting options, the modes are night-light, medium, max, color-changing, and color-locked. Set the cube to color-changing, an when it gets to a color/level that you like, simply click the mode button one more time to lock it in. It will remember that color next time you use it, too!
Because of its long battery life, I use the Cube a lot. It also gives me something to do with my not-quite-powerful-enough AAA batteries. My favorite use so far has been to turn it on low while playing D&D to remind myself, my party, and the DM that I have Light cast at all times. This has saved some great confusions over the last several sessions, and made my life as a Wizard less tedious to track.

Considering the weight of the cube is 97g, it’s a wonderfully light solution for hiking and/or camping. No more 6 lb. lantern for me, dude. Inside the battery compartment is a hook, and directions for changing the settings. This means you can hang it with ease, and you don’t have to worry about breaking the hanger off, since it is stored within the unit.
TLDR: If you are looking for an affordable, durable, versatile, and easy to use lighting solution, the Enevu Cube light should be on your list.
