Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer will be at a special screening of two Battlestar Galactica episodes–“33” and “Downloaded” at Redmond’s iPic theater on April 19. The charity event will be benefiting The Humane Society for Seattle/King County.
Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) and Tricia Helfer (Caprica 6) are well-known to many geeks for their roles in the new Battlestar Galactica series. What many people, including myself, are probably not aware of is their great charity work. Several years ago, Sackhoff and Helfer started The Acting Outlaws, a charity organization that raises money for causes they hold dear while also incorporating their love of riding motorcycles. You can also buy prints, calendars, and more featuring Sackhoff and Helfer to help them raise money (and get something beautiful in return).
The Tulip Ride is a local motorcycle riding event that raises money for charity by sponsoring a ride on April 18 from Redmond to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The ride includes food, gifts, admission the Roozengaarde Tulip Farm, and more. This year marks the third year that The Acting Outlaws will be joining the Tulip Ride.
Although the main event is for riders, non-riders, like myself, can just opt-in for the BSG screening and still get to meet Sackhoff and Helfer. For only $50 attendees get to watch both episodes in what is probably the nicest theater in Washington state, plus get to meet Sackhoff and Helfer, get autographs, and take selfies with them! Considering most conventions charge this much for a quick single photo-op or autograph, this is a great deal.
For those looking to give (and get) more, there is also a VIP dinner package which includes all the ride and Tulip Festival plus access to a 25 person VIP dinner with Sackhoff, Helfer, and the other two celebrity guests, Kurt Yaegar and Chris Reed from Sons of Anarchy.
