You guys are mistaken. Adam Sandler is always given the opportunity to make new movies because:
1. He always comes in on budget OR under budget — and his movies are cheap to make.
2. He’s loyal to his friends
3. His movies always gross more than it costs to make (so he always turns a profit.
4. He has a built-in audience that buy tickets to his movies.
Even if you don’t like his movies or aren’t the right “demographic” for his movies — is no reason to disparage them without doing due diligence when it comes to research.

I’m not a fan of Kevin James either but, he makes money from a certain demographic.

Miles Teller is barely known? Jeez you guys are so very out of touch. Miles Teller may be unknown to you and the fellow GeekDads — but ask your sons/daughters they know who Miles Teller is.

Hi Monirom, sorry you didn’t enjoy the podcast. The thing about podcasts is that they are not news shows, so opinions drive the conversation and we value those who disagree with ours. I’m glad you are a a passionate fan of Adam Sandler, unfortunately, we just don’t feel the same. I’d rather watch Mission Impossible 2 over any of the movies Sandler has made in the past five years. I do enjoy Miles Teller however, but the point we were making was that FF might have more box-office pull from an A-Lister with more gross history than with the 466th ranked Teller leading the pack.
I’m a pretty open geek, and there are tons of movies, actors and TV shows I love that many people might not. I’m generally anything but a curmudgeon, though I will cop to being a curmudgeon when it comes to talking about DC. I’m a passionate fan of both Batman and Superman, and The Dark Knight Returns is my favorite comic series of all time. However, Dawn of Justice is NOT an adaptation of that series, but appearing more like a hodgepodge of Justice League story-lines tied randomly with bits from TDKR to create what DC perceives to be a film of fan-service. We argue however, that this system actually does injustice (no pun intended) to the greatness of the DKR storyline. Why not just hold on to that material for a later film that is a direct adaptation?
No need to apologize. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, especially if it’s their podcast.
My rant wasn’t about whether or not why you guys dislike Adam Sandler, it’s answering your question about how he manages to still stay vital in the Hollywood ecosystem. It’s no secret. Always making money for the studio keeps you working. On a side note, re: Kevin James, I’m clueless as to how Paul Blart Mall Cop got made but, apparently it made enough money to warrant a sequel.
On the Miles Teller thing, I’m just saying you guys need to keep up. Obviously the all studios are casting young because they want their stars to grow into the respective comic book movie franchises/universe. Appealing to the YA crowd doesn’t hurt them either.
In closing, what the heck do I know? I wasn’t bailing on the Podcast as a whole, just this episode. Keep doing what you’re doing.
