James A. Owen, author and artist of the popular seven-volume The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica, has announced a Kickstarter for his newest book, All the Colors of Magic – A Coloring Book for All Ages.
The book will feature at least 22 of Owen’s detailed fantasy illustrations from his seven-volume The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica, including all seven covers and a good number of chapter illustrations, plus some fan-favorite pictures and other goodies.
The images will include dragons (of course), badgers, a sphinx, a six-armed Minotaur, fearsome battle goats (with Jules Verne!), the wonderfully detailed Goblin Market, and even some new, seldom seen artwork (pending stretch goal unlocking).
The finished book will be a full 8 1/2″ x 11″ with a glossy, full-color cover and thick, uncoated interior pages that are perfect for crayons, markers, colored pencils, or any coloring medium that suits your fancy.
That’s right, Owen isn’t just calling this a coloring book–he really wants people to color in the pages. And on top of that, he really wants to see the results. He’ll be setting up a page on jamesaowen.com that will feature reader submissions, and once a week he promises to hang a favorite on his studio refrigerator and post it to his quite active Facebook page.
The project’s backer levels are quite accessible, too. For $10, you’ll get a copy of the book, $20 will get you two (one to color, one to keep), and for $50 you get five copies (the “Fun With Family” pledge). And $100 (you can see where this is going) will get you 10 copies.
The initial funding goals and first stretch goal are already met, so the book is happening. If you like fantastic art of fantastic subjects–or if you just like coloring–head on over to the All the Colors of Magic Kickstarter page and pledge your support!
