Firecrackers Jump Rope Team
The Firecrackers have jumped their way into America’s heart, and now a feature film!

Recently, an entire college arena was brought to their feet to cheer on one of the most amazing teams in the country. No, I’m not talking about basketball or March Madness. Instead, at Indiana University, the Firecrackers Jump Rope Team further endeared themselves to America while making us all question our own agility and coordination.

The team, which is composed of students in grades 4-8 from the Kings Local School District in Ohio, is no stranger to the national spotlight. Previous performances include Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The David Letterman Show, a presidential inauguration, and numerous showings at collegiate athletics events including the U.S. Naval Academy performance that went viral in 2011. According to the new video released on YouTube March 18, that success has opened the door for an upcoming independent film titled Firecrackers: The Movie.

According to the website the movie will be:

a feel good, stand-up-and-cheer movie based on the true story of how Coach Lynn Kelley and a group of small-town, middle school girls went from unruly underdogs to the powerhouse performance team that inspires millions.

Writer and director of 2008’s Canvas, Joseph Greco will be helming the project with producers from JSEntertainment and Sobini Films attached.

The girls themselves endure a practice schedule that consists of two hours per day, five or six days per week. An impressive feat that leads to some incredible performances no doubt, but are they ready for Hollywood to come calling? With a feel-good story based on true events that empowers young girls, hopefully they don’t have much of a hurdle to jump.
