There’s a lot going on in the world of Pokémon, not the least of which concerns a new tie-in with upcoming card game expansion, Pokémon TCG: XY—Primal Clash. In anticipation of its release, The Pokémon Company International is hosting a special Team Aqua vs. Team Magma sweepstakes. Players can vote to support Team Magma’s desolate earth agenda or Team Aqua’s plans to flood the world, and the visual design of the contest site will change to reflect your preferred team’s colors. Daily winners will be chosen to receive TCG products, plushies, and wall graphics courtesy of the Pokémon Center, and, upon the sweepstake’s conclusion, one lucky winner will receive a six-night vacation for four to Honolulu, Hawaii!
Also just revealed were the dates and locations for the Pokémon Winter Regional Championship tournaments:
- St. Louis, MO: February 14–15, 2015, at the St. Charles Convention Center
- Portland, OR: February 14–15, 2015, at the DoubleTree by Hilton
- Doswell, VA: February 14–15, 2015, at the Exhibition Hall at the Meadow Event Park
- Lancaster, CA: February 14–15, 2015, at the Pioneer Event Center
- Kissimmee, FL: February 28–March 1, 2015, at the Park Inn by Radisson Resort & Conference Center
The St. Louis Regionals will be streamed live on Twitch, and more information is available at the competition website.
But even those of us not lucky enough to win Aqua vs. Magma prizes or skilled enough to participate in this year’s competition aren’t exactly left out in the cold. All subscribers to Pokémon Bank who access their accounts between February 27 and November 30 will receive special versions of the fully evolved Johto region starters Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr. Using Pokémon Link, these can be imported into Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.
