Dillon Markey Animates ‘Robot Chicken’ With Power Glove

Television Videogames

When Nintendo released the Power Glove in 1989, it quickly became the hottest item for gamers everywhere. Beyond its limitations and awkwardness, the look of the Power Glove and its coolly marketed unveiling cemented its place in gaming nostalgia. From its famous reveal in 1989’s The Wizard to Freddy Krueger’s menacing “You forgot about the Power Glove” line in 1991’s Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, the Power Glove undoubtedly left its mark on the early-’90s zeitgeist.

Robot Chicken animator Dillon Markey is keeping that nostalgia alive with a customized Bluetooth Power Glove he uses to control camera capture and playback and optimize the stop-motion animation process. Director Ava Benjamin captured Markey and his Power Glove at work in the above short film Playing With Power.
