The ZeroLemon Slim Juicer 3100mAh Battery Case

If you’re a heavy phone user or a road warrior who depends upon their mobile device all day long, you either get used to re-charging wherever you can find an outlet, or having the forethought to own and charge extra batteries (if your device supports that). Of course, there’s a third choice–a battery case.

Perhaps the biggest name in mobile phone battery cases has been Mophie, whose devices are easy to use, and can more than double your device’s daily life while cradling it in a safe and elegant case. But they’re not cheap.

So, when ZeroLemon emailed me with the offer of a review unit for their new “Slim Juicer” 3100mAh battery case for the iPhone 6, I took them up on it–especially since at the time Mophie hadn’t launched theirs yet.

I’ve been using my case for a few weeks now, and it’s everything I’d want it to be. It’s an attractive black case that oddly makes my iPhone 6 feel more solid. The phone sits in the case, plugged into it via the lighting port, and I charge the whole package via a mini-USB port in the bottom. THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS </picard> on the back that tell me how fully charged it is. When my phone’s main battery is low, I hold down the power button built flush into the back for a couple seconds, and the phone will re-charge all the way back to full in less than an hour while I’m still using it. I’m done, sold, and happy that I can now make it through an extended day of heavy phone use without plugging in.

Oh, and the one other thing that makes the ZeroLemon attractive? It’s the price. The Mophie Juice Pack Air for the iPhone (which just finally came out) runs $99 for a lower-capacity model, or $129 for a slightly higher-capacity model. The ZeroLemon costs just $50 on Amazon.

And lest you think we’re being Apple-centric, ZeroLemon makes their battery cases and other accessories for a wide-variety of Android phone as well.
