Registration is open for this year’s Girls Make Games summer camp. I mentioned it last year, but Girls Make Games is a program through LearnDistrict that is specifically for girls who want to learn to make videogames. There are camps in 16 different cities throughout the summer.

Final projects are judged by industry experts, and the winner will be developed into a finished game! Last year’s winner, The Hole Story, successfully funded on Kickstarter and is in development.

I should note that, although the price tag on the camps is pretty high, there are scholarships available so it’s definitely worth asking if your daughter is interested. The age range is approximately 11 to 14, but they have had girls who are older and younger. You’re probably the best judge of whether your daughter is ready for something like this.
