Vote for GeekDad to Get a MacArthur Foundation Grant

The people who write for GeekDad represent a huge variety of backgrounds, interests, and careers. For example, our Bill Shribman works for the powerhouse of public media, WGBH in Boston, and plays a big part in creating cool stuff for PBSKids.

Part of Bill’s job is seeking out funding sources to help fund the projects he wants to build to help kids and families, and recently he put in a competitive proposal for the Digital Media + Learning Competition, being put on by the MacArthur Foundation (how many times have you heard the words “brought to you by a generous grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation” after watching a show on PBS?), and included in the proposal is a part for GeekDad (& GeekMom) to help out in building a “Parents Guide to Media and Technology.”

Even cooler – we’ve just found out that the project is a finalist for the grants, and for the next month there’s open voting that may just get us over the top. That’s where you, our readers, come in. Just take a quick jump over to the entry page for our proposal, and click on the big heart to vote for us. If all goes well, we’ll know in February!
