Tired of singing about your confusion as to what stars are–when you know exactly what they are and why they twinkle? Zach Weinersmith of SMBC comics (http://www.smbc-comics.com) and illustrator Chris Jones ( http://www.jonesid.com) have joined forces to create a wonderful new version of the classic lullaby “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” that allows parents to show off their science knowledge while teaching their kids some astronomical facts.
The well-known English lullaby was written in the 1800s, a time when stars were useful for guidance though poorly understood as celestial objects. Though there have been other science versions, this update has fun, singable lyrics that will fit in nicely in your They Might Be Giants playlist. (Everyone has one of those, right?)
The duo has also penned a book (and ebook and audio) version as well as the video. Order the book, ebook, or download the astronomically-correct song at http://minutephysics.com/twinkle. If you preorder the book, you get the ebook for FREE in formats Kindle, iPad, and Android along with standard PDF. (Time to teach our toddler how to use the iPad!)
