I’ve long been a glasses wearer. Starting at age eight and continuing to the present–33 years later–I’ve worn glasses. I know what I like, and I know what fits me. It takes me a long time when I need to pick out a new frame, since I obsess over the color, material, shape, and that ever-important flexible hinge on all the available frames. Over the years, the options have changed somewhat, but most hinges have remained the same kind of technology: springy or non-springy.

Enter Spine Eyewear. Coming in a variety of styles including both optical and sunglass varieties, their eyewear has a new hinge style that doesn’t work in the conventional way. It is a patented micro injected metal hinge designed after the human spine. It bends in all directions, including a small amount up and down.

This new-fangled hinge style is also attractive and only adds to the nice look of the frames. Choose from a wide selection, all with the special Spine hinge. It also automatically shuts when it isn’t being held open by your hands or your face. Since it bounces back from force in any direction, it can fit heads of just about any size.

I’m not as hard on my eyewear as I used to be, but I’m very confident that when wearing these frames, even a soccer ball to the face wouldn’t do more than smudge the lenses. The frames are also extremely comfortable, and feel light on your face.

Spine Optics has a thorough FAQ page to answer any further questions. For a visual tour, check out the video on their main page. They have eyewear with plastic frames, metal frames, half frames, and just about anything you’re looking for.

If you want to look sharp and still have quite impressive technology built into your eyewear frames, take a look at Spine Eyewear in the new year. Launching in January 2015, you can find them at optical retailers.
