Hacking the Holidays Toys

christmasshopping
It’s been a tradition in our family for years now that we go out on Black Friday, not so much to engage in the gladitorial combat of the shopping experience itself, as to mostly observe it as a spectator sport. But we do get some shopping done, and one component always involves purchasing some toys to give to charities, like Toys for Tots, so that less fortunate kids can have happy holidays too. This year, we’re geting to take this experience up a notch, thanks to the good folks at On Star.

They’ve arranged for us to have a 2014 Chevy Equinox with OnStar and their new 4G LTE-connected wifi to use in finding all the best deals as we drive around the shopping maelstrom. Even better, they’ve sent along a $500 pre-paid Mastercard to use buying toys from the GeekDad Holiday Gift Guide #1: Toys, which we will then deliver to our local Toys for Tots drop-off.

And we want all of you to join us! If you’re out shopping on Black Friday weekend, pick up a toy for charity, take a picture with it, and tweet/Facebook it with the hashtags #ConnectedbyOnstar and #GeekDadBF (for GeekDad Black Friday). We’ll be tweeting our capitalist victories all day, and we’ll make sure as many of your successes get re-tweeted as possible, and perhaps collect them in a follow-up post.
