Following this summer’s shocking acquisition of tabletop game publisher Days of Wonder, Asmodee Group announces today that they have also purchased Minnesota based publisher Fantasy Flight Games. Terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Flight has been publishing games for more than 20 years and has seen tremendous growth in the past decade, especially with its Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game. The Fantasy Flight catalog of games is pretty large and the company is constantly resetting the bar. At this year’s Gen Con, the Fantasy Flight booth was a hotspot because of its XCOM game that utilizes a tablet and the announcement of a new Star Wars game, Star Wars: Imperial Assault. The company also publishes books, graphic novels, role playing games, and software.

Asmodee is a publisher based in Paris, France and responsible for publishing some highly recognized titles like 7 Wonders, Dixit, Takenoko, and Timeline. “Fantasy Flight Games is a highly reputed publisher within the gaming community. It has demonstrated its ability to create great games and to establish fantastic relationships within the hobby games market and large entertainment companies,” said Stéphane Carville, CEO of Asmodee Group. “Together, we will continue to bring unique, innovative and high-quality games to gamers worldwide.”

Fantasy Flight will continue its operations from its Roseville, Minnesota headquarters. Asmodee, at this rate, will have the biggest booth at every game convention for years to come.
