Sick of cheap candy at Halloween? This year, consider an alternative: Comic books.
Diamond Comics (the folks who get the comics to comic book stores) is sponsoring a Halloween Comic Fest! On October 25th, you can walk into any participating comic shop and get a free Halloween ComicFest comic. This includes some top shelf comics like Batman: The Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special, Grimm Fairy Tales Halloween Special, and Marvel Secret Wars.
Even better, you can pick up packs of mini-comics to give out in place of candy to those ghosts and goblins who come a-knockin’ at your door on All Hallow’s Eve promising tricks and/or treats. There are seven titles to choose from — including Angry Birds, Betty and Veronica, Plants vs. Zombies, BOOM! Studios Fright Fest, LBX Little Battlers, Mermin and Vamplets —that come in packs of 20 mini-comics at $4.99 per pack from finer comic-book stores everywhere.
Find a comic shop near you to get the Mini-Comic Packs and participate in Halloween ComicFest at http://www.halloweencomicfest.com/StoreLocator
Are you certain you can still purchase the packs of comics at comic shops? I had to preorder mine back in July. The cutoff was 7/24. They started to come in last week, but only for those of us that ordered.
Jay,
According to the website, press release, and video, they should be available at participating comic shops.
