If you’re in need of a spiffy backpack that looks like a traditional rucksack and will carry everything you need for your next adventure, look no further than ThinkGeek’s latest bag offering, the Backpack of Holding.
A nice brown-ish color, the bag is extremely comfortable to wear, and only has basic pockets and compartments. If you’re like me and you constantly lose items in bags that have too many pockets, compartments, and sleeves, this backpack will fit your needs. The main compartment is extremely roomy, perfect for stuffing in clothes, carrying books, or as a roomy bag space. Inside, there is a slightly padded section for a tablet or small laptop as well. There are also two small pockets and two pen/Chapstick pockets about halfway down, for small, not-frequently-accessed items. Outside, there is one front and two side zippered pockets for items you need to get to frequently, and are large enough to hold most of your daily necessities.
The opening of the bag slightly closes with two side snaps, which narrows the opening before you fold the flap over and close it with the two webbed straps. The shoulder straps are slightly padded, and, of course, adjustable. The whole thing is extremely comfortable to carry, and fits people of almost all sizes. I’m an average-sized female, and it wasn’t too bulky on my back, but it also wouldn’t be tiny on someone larger. If you are particularly large chested or broad shouldered, the adjustable straps may be pushed to their limits, but they work for most people.
There are also extra slots on the top-back of the bag where you can insert your own narrow webbed straps to attach other items to the bag, such as a sleeping mat or rolled-up jacket.
Made of the same quality of canvas as their regular Bag of Holding, the Backpack of Holding is another attractive, functional, and durable bag from the great folks at ThinkGeek. I love my regular Bag of Holding, but sometimes my needs aren’t as two dimensional as that. Sometimes you need something more like a stuffsack, or a bag that will hold many things next to each other. That’s when this backpack shines. Plus it just looks really great, in a “let’s go hiking in the Alps” kind of way.
