Audible has put together an interesting group of voices for the audio edition of The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories by R.A. Salvatore. The cast list features Sean Astin, Michael Chiklis, Wil Wheaton, Ice-T, Tom Felton, Al Yankovic, David Duchovny, Greg Grunberg, Felicia Day, Melissa Rauch, Danny Pudi and Dan Harmon.
I’ll admit that I had to Google about half of them, but there are more than a few that everyone here should recognize. I haven’t listened to all of the stories in their entirety, but what little I have sounds awesome. Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, and Al Yankovic gave great performances with separate voices for each character.
The one reader that struck me as most interesting was Ice-T. His voice works surprisingly well for this type of narration, even if he could use a bit more practice with the character voices. He comments about the difficulty and the foreign nature of the material in the video below, and much more at this io9 interview he did back in February. Warning: there is plenty of adult language in that interview.
