Wii Sports Club Hits Retail Shelves

Though I talked about its impending digital release last fall (and surely most of our readers remember the massive family appeal of the original Wii release), the recently uprezzed Wii Sports Club has finally landed on store shelves. At a budget price of $40, Wii Sports Club combines all the fun of last generation’s groundbreaking Wii Sports with a number of compelling new twists.

In addition to new hi-def graphics Wii Sports Club now boasts online multiplayer, but the classic couch-multiplayer also arrives intact — and families that didn’t save their original Wii controllers can still enjoy Bowling and Golf hotseat-style by sharing a single Wii Remote Plus. Baseball and Golf have also been tweaked to allow for additional Wii U GamePad functionality, and all five games — Boxing included — are available on this single disc, or a la carte as digital downloads for $9.99 each.

Wii Sports newbies and other skeptics can also enjoy demos of the titles free for 48 hours, and a unique Day Pass system allows access to all available sports for a 24 hour period for a scant $1.99.
