I’ve been coo-coo for chocolate-fiber-free-name-brand cereal about Speck for a while now. Their slick, protective cases have been a highlight of my iPhone lifestyle for quite some time, and now that we’ve upgraded to the iPhone 5s, our house is pleased to continue its Speck heritage.
This time around, we latched on to the Speck CandyShell Inked. The stunning looks are a great complement to the snug fit and sleek profile. Because smart phones are so ubiquitous, many people have the same hum-drum look. Speck has continued to push individuality, though. The Inked case comes in seven vibrant designs, each with its own appeal.
This model also features an anti-scratch finish and a one year warranty. Speck even advertises that the Inked case is “Certified to meet or exceed MIL-STD-810G drop test standards.” This means that your iPhone is safe in its case. Unfortunately, this comes with a small price–the snug fit makes it difficult to change cases. Jenny even commented that she felt she was breaking her phone while trying to remove her case. Of course, no damage was done to the phone, but a larger-than-expected amount of force is required.
My favorite feature is the one-piece design. I don’t have to worry about the rubber lining wearing out, or the outer shell cracking, leaving me with two semi-compatible pieces. Combined with a label price of under $40, the Inked is competitive with other designer cases.
Jenny’s favorite feature is that the case is completely compatible with her new favorite screen protector, the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass. And the simple design of the case means that many other accessories may be used with little complication.
