Hot on the heels of this week’s casting announcement comes Star Wars Day proper, the day when get we get to greet each other with the cheesiest pun ever and get away with it! Naturally it’s the best time to push anything Star Wars related, and new owners Disney certainly aren’t going to miss that opportunity. At 12:01 am ET/PT on Sunday, the first full trailer for the new Disney XD animation, Star Wars Rebels will be released onto the internet, before airing later in the day on Disney XD during the new Lego Star Wars movie, The New Yoda Chronicles: Escape From The Jedi Temple (which begins at 7pm ET/PT), as well on a host of other channels. [Update: here’s the trailer!]

Although the show is squarely aimed at the younger audience, as was The Clone Wars before it, the clip recently shown at Wondercon looks promising — the animation style is much more “natural,” and it’s nice to see the clones (now Stormtroopers, of course) on the receiving end of the good guys weaponry once again. The show itself is scheduled to premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on the Disney Channel, followed by the full series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

As for Lego Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles – Escape From the Jedi Temple (Longest. Title. Ever.) itself, you can catch it on the Disney Channel this Saturday, May 3rd (9pm ET/PT) as well as the Disney XD broadcast on Sunday, May 4th (7pm ET/PT) and here’s the trailer for it, full of the usual Lego humour!
