Last fall, during their Kickstarter, we were very excited about Fine Grain’s minimalist wood iPad stands. Now that they’re here, we can’t stop talking about the stands, called Coburns. The compact stands, made from Birdseye Maple and a darker wood, pau ferro (Brazillian ironwood), are beautiful to look at — and for a good reason.

When shaping each pair of hardwood stands, the two pieces are kept together through the process. So, after being cut, branded, and finished, the grain on the pair matches each other exactly. Each piece is outfitted with a couple of magnets to hold them together during storage and come with a carrying loop made from natural wool. Their small size allows for a wide variety of viewing angles in either landscape or portrait mode and, thanks to the softness of wood, you never have to worry about scratching your iPad. The Coburns are available for iPad 3 and 4, Mini, or Air in light or dark wood.
