Mooshimeter: Funny Name, Cool Product

Electronics Geek Culture

A few different friends pointed me at this Dragon Innovate project last week and I had to check it out. Mooshimeter seems like a silly name, but the product behind it promises to change the way we diagnose electrical problems. Equipped with a dual channel circuit tester, Bluetooth, and your smart phone, you can use this meter to measure voltage and current up to 30 feet away.

The Mooshiemeter can handle up to 600 volts and 10 amps, and since it is wireless there’s no risk to your phone or tablet. The apps support both Android and iOS, and can graph the relation between voltage and current. There is also a built in microSD slot that allows on-board data logging.

Dragon Innovate is another crowd funding site, similar to Kickstarter, but they seem more cautious about their projects. I can’t vouch for their success rate, but I don’t think it is any riskier than Kickstarter and may in fact be safer. I took the plunge and bought one for my daughter’s robotics team under the STEMooshimeter level.

Check out the video below, and if you want more info click through to Mooshimeter. Keep an eye out for some familiar Tesla coils in the video.
