Last night, Wil Wheaton announced the return of International TableTop Day. The worldwide event, which premiered last year, will be held on April 5th in 2014. Again, the focus will be on encouraging gamers to get together at game stores, community centers, or in homes and play games on the day of the event and to celebrate gaming.

In 2013, more than 3,100 events were held in 64 countries, across all 7 continents and every state and province in North America. This year’s event will likely surpass the 2013 totals, with 6,000 local meetups and 11 million participants anticipated. 2014 International TableTop Day will feature a tentpole event in Los Angeles, hosted by Wil and Felicia Day and hundreds of guests. Webcasts will again be broadcast all day from Los Angeles.

The event’s Web site has received an extensive overhaul and, like last year, gamers will be able to create events and meetups for one of the biggest days in gaming. The interactive, searchable map is back to help gamers find a game store event or meetup.

But that’s not all. The site will also allow gamers to create blog posts and has an area that tracks social media surrounding the TableTop community. There’s also an area for downloads that has lots of logos you can use in fliers and invites for your meetups, plus a Trophy of Awesome you can print out and give to your event’s winners. Finally, if you want to look extra good for TableTop Day, the site has a store with some nice ITTD merch to get you in the spirit of the event.

When April 5th rolls around, get to an event and “Play More Games”, as the event’s theme suggests. If you visit a local game store, there’s a chance you’ll get some awesome gaming goodies and even if you miss out, you’re almost guaranteed a good time. Start making plans now!

  1. Any geek dads in the Atlanta area want to try and find a venue to host a kid-friendly party? Titan Comics will be participating but I’d like to see about a gathering of dads and kids (and moms welcome, too). It’d be BYOG and probably a great place to demo and share new games.
