Some of us aren’t the best at choosing colors for things, such as painting walls, designing websites, or matching clothing. A color that looks amazing on the tiny paint chip can be a bit overwhelming on a whole wall (or a whole room or website). The same with coordinating furniture with wall, floor, and window treatment colors, or just matching your clothes for the day. So for all of us color-challenged folk out there, a new book has arrived to help.
The PANTONE people have come out with a book called PANTONE: 35 Inspirational Color Palettes. Use it for home decoration, wardrobe selection, website design, party planning, or anything requiring more than one color to go together. It’s a handy size to take shopping with you, but the color chips are big enough to get a feel for the colors. The fan format is inconvenient and hard to page through, but it closes with an elastic to keep everything tidy when not in use.
Each page shows four different PANTONE colors with their name and number. It also describes where the inspiration for the color combinations came from, along with what kind of purpose they may serve. From the bright (Parisian Pâtisserie and Birthday Balloons) to the understated (City Haze and Rainy Sunday) to the classically beautiful (French Country and Afternoon at the Metropolitan), the book has color palettes to suit just about anyone. Cottage Garden and French Country may be my favorites.
