One of my personal favorite holiday traditions is anxiously combing through my RSS feeds throughout the month of December in anticipation of new seasonal songs. There are a number of regular annual musical merrymakers, but there are two that never fail to satisfy.
My friends from Kirby Krackle really seem to relish their yearly holiday single, pouring noticeable thought, effort and, yes, emotion into what could easily be throwaway track. Vocalist Kyle Stevens seems particularly proud of this year’s selection “I Believe in Christmas Time,” and he should be — it’s a beautiful reflection on the season of giving.
Another great release is the Santastic 8 collection — the latest volume of holiday-themed mash-ups compiled by Atlanta’s dj BC. You can pick up this year’s album as well as all the previous entries at christmash.com. To whet your appetite, here’s a cut from DJ Schmolli that combines a classic Who track with Kiwi pop sensation Lorde.
