In my ever constant quest to find the perfect bag I’ve been testing out the Book Boa Courier. Like all Booq bags, the Boa sports a Terralinq serial number that, when registered, can help reunite you with your lost bag. The construction and quality of materials is in keeping with Booq’s standards and the styling is clean and simple.
The exterior of the bag is made from a dense 1680D nylon and trimmed in a reflective piping. Sturdy plastic clips hold the front flap down and a high quality zipper closes the slim pocket up front. The interior of the bag is split between a large compartment with a couple pockets fit for a phone or documents and a well padded and soft laptop pocket. The Boa 13 advertises room for a 13 inch Macbook, but my 14 inch Lenovo Carbon X1 squeezes in without much trouble.
The larger interior pocket is just the right size for my larger Grit-It Cocoon, and the pockets hold a few pens, Moo cards, and a large USB battery pack. Full size papers or a magazine will fit in the front zippered pocket, and an outer pocket on the back of the bag is suitable for a tablet. My V-Moda headphones hitch a ride clipped to the handle, rounding out the essentials of a day at the office, or coffee shop. The only piece of every day equipment that I can’t find room for is my Olympus Pen camera, but I can, and often do, make do with my phone.
Like all Booq bags, this one impresses me with the high quality seams, sturdy nylon fabric, and clean functional design. While not perfect, this one makes the commute with enough gadgets to setup in a coffee house for a day, but falls short when travelling where a camera, extra batteries and possibly a change of clothes is necessary. This one won’t replace my Ogio Renegade for trips, but it will be with me for my daily commute.
