The days when the only kids’ show you could depend upon for Halloween fun was another rerun of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown are long gone. Over the past several decades, Halloween has grown into an institution of its own, and these days people demand more TV programming — for adults and for kids alike — around the holiday. This year, Disney Channel is going all-out, putting on an entire month of spooky kids’ shows, and three new episodes of GeekDad favorite Phineas and Ferb are among the highlights.

The first new Phineas and Ferb, airing tonight at 9:30pm ET/PT, is called “Druselsteinoween” (say that ten times fast), and is described in the official press release thusly:

When Vanessa learns that Doofenshmirtz has inherited a Drusselsteinian castle right next door to her she seizes the opportunity to throw the biggest Halloween bash ever. The whole town is there, including Phineas and Ferb, who act as the event’s party planners and DJs. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz enlists Perry to help him find a large, hidden treasure that his Great Aunt has placed somewhere within the castle.

The second, airing tomorrow at 8:30pm ET/PT, is called “Terrifying Tri-State Trilogy of Terror,” and for my money sounds terrific. It sounds inspired, at least in part, by The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” episodes, which is not a bad thing. You can see an exclusive clip from this episode below the official description:

This new episode of Phineas and Ferb features three separate tales. Tale One follows Candace as she accidentally conjures up a spell that turns her Ducky Momo plushie into a living, breathing doll that is set on stalking her. In Tale Two, Doofenshmirtz encounters a mythological, giant floating baby head that grants cursed wishes; and Tale Three pits Phineas, Ferb and their friends against a horde of mischievous, evil platypuses set on destroying the town.

And the third, airing next Friday, October 11, at 9:15pm ET/PT, is called “Face Your Fear,” and sounds like fun, if somewhat less overtly Halloween-y than the previous two:

After studying hours of horror movies, Doofenshmirtz develops a theory that enlarging small, cute animals into giant beasts will help him take over the Tri-State area. But when he puts his plan into action, he soon realizes it might be too much for him to handle. Meanwhile, Phineas and Ferb make a giant revolving foam city so they can safely perform skateboarding tricks, and Candace’s tour of the Danville Space Laboratory gives her an opportunity for a high-tech bust.

In addition to all of this Phineas and Ferb goodness, there’s a new episode of the new excellent Disney Channel show Wander Over Yonder on tonight at 9:00pm ET/PT, just before the new P&F. (See an image from the episode below.) Its title is “The Pet” and its description is:

When Wander and Sylvia board an abandoned spaceship, they encounter a horrifying alien monster that is set on eating them. While Sylvia sees the wild beast as a threat, Wander takes a liking to the ferocious little monster and tries to train it to be his pet.

  1. My son has been asking about Phineas and Ferb. Do you know if there are any new episodes for 2013 or 2014?

    1. According to the list maintained by the folks at the excellent unofficial wiki for the show, last week’s episode “Steampunx” was the last new episode for the rest of 2013, but there are quite a few remaining episodes in the show’s fourth season to be shown next year (on dates not yet announced). Stay tuned to GeekDad – we’ll do our best to keep you informed.
