Welcome to another edition of Fund This, GeekMom’s bi-weekly series that focuses on places to invest some of your hard-earned cash. Here, we highlight a few of the most interesting projects on crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and many more. Ready to make someone’s dream a reality?

Speaking of dreams: When I first saw Jurassic Park years ago, I couldn’t wait until that type of theme park became a reality. Well, until the dinosaurs started eating all of the people. The carnage didn’t seem to scare off The Colonel Mustard Amateur Attic Theatre Company, a musical troupe out of Nebraska. The group first launched Jurassic Park: The Musical back in 2009. Yes, it’s a musical — a musical that’s about to go 3D.

The Colonel Mustard is attempting to follow in the giant footsteps of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster, which received the 3D treatment earlier this year. If all goes well, Jurassic Park: The Musical 3D will premiere August 23-24 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

How is that possible? Well, the troupe has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a giant enclosed wall. That new addition is designed to make the audience feel completely immersed in the action. There’s no escape, people!

At last peek, The Colonel Mustard had hit its $1,500 goal. However, they could use a few extra sets, dinosaur puppets, and even better sound equipment. Whether or not you plan to attend, you can still score a premium if you pledge a few bucks on the crew’s Kickstarter page between now and Monday, August 12, 2013.

For those of you on the West Coast, consider giving to the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. If all goes well, organizers are hoping to do three days of movies, music, art, literature, and games, all adapted and inspired by master weird tale author H.P. Lovecraft.

This is actually the festival’s fourth year — or it could be. Filmmaker Aaron Vanek has already spent a lot of his own money on the event’s first three years and doesn’t really have the funds to keep things going. Now, he’s turning to Kickstarter to make the festival’s fourth year happen at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, CA. Almost all of the pledge perks include festival tickets. You can snag one or more by donating a few dollars to the event’s Kickstarter page before the campaign ends on Friday, August 16, 2013.

If you’d prefer to back a completely different kind of show, consider The Pandas Show. This is a cross-media project that will parody geek and pop culture using 13 digital comics, 13 games, and one trade paperback. Oh, and it does all of that using pandas — in both English and French. The Pandas Show could use a little love, with just a few days left to reach its $68,000 Kickstarter goal. Pledges are being accepted through Friday, August 9, 2013, and will go to producing the various parts of the project.
