Stop the Madness — Star Wars Skin Costumes

Costume Craze has recently unveiled their latest in Star Wars costuming. Currently, I’m at a loss for words on how to describe both the “sexy” women’s line and the men’s skin line.

Currently, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Boba Fett and Darth Maul are available choices for the men on Costume Craze’s website. The “sexy” (I use that term very loosely) women’s line includes Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Boba Fett and Rebel Pilot. Each of the costumes is available for a “steal” of $64 each.

Star Wars isn’t the only movie getting this horrifying costume treatment. Batman, Robin and The Flash are also available. The Flash, in my opinion, is the best choice out of the bunch. I could do without the cheesy grin painted on the cowl though.

I’m not sure how these costumes made it through the licensing department, but in my opinion whoever’s responsible should be fired. I’m pretty sure Boba Fett would do some disintegrations over his design… Looking at these costumes, I think Hello Kitty Vader would have been a more suitable choice for mass production.

If you’re interested in checking these out for yourself, head over to Costume Craze’s website.

What are your thoughts on the latest skin costume craze? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE!
I would like to share the children’s design for the “Sexy” Stormtrooper costume. It’s pretty sad that this is what they are aspiring our young girls to dress up as.

    1. I completely agree Mary. It think its disgusting that they also have costumes similar to these for the little girls. I didn’t see any for the boys, so at least someone has their head screwed on right for that one. For anyone else reading this comment, here is a link to the little girls stormtrooper. Yuck…http://www.costumecraze.com/SW263.html

      1. I really don’t think the intent there is “sexy”. Not the little girls one at least. If a little girl wants to be a stormtrooper in a skirt, why is that wrong? (Ok, yes, wrong according to cannon, but that’s beside the point- the boys storm-trooper has a cod-piece, last I checked girls don’t have cods ). Why is that any different than the skin tight Padme bodysuit costumes? Or Monster High, Barbie, Wonder Woman, Daphne, the girl Transformers costumes, witches, vampires, etc costumes? I admit- the pose is crappy, they should have given her a gun and more of a fighting stance, but whatev. At least they didn’t just throw pink on it and say that means it’s for girls.

        1. Little Girls – this is Pedophilia eye candy. If a little girl wants to be a Storm Trooper want is wrong with the standard white pants / shirt or jumpsuit that they have for BOYS! Yet for girls it’s a short skirt, knee high tight socks and a sexy stance…and society continues to wonder why women are still treated as sexual property. here’s one reason.

      2. Not that I necessisarily like or agree with it, but what specifically is it about the girls costume that you find offensive? How is it any worse than the Ahsoka costume or the Padme/Geonosis body suit costume? Depending on the height of the girl the skirt comes down nearly to her knees, and there’s not really a lot of skin showing. Most dance recital and cheer outfits I see girls wearing are far more “sexy” than that girls stormtrooper costume. If the model wasn’t doing that silly sexy-hip pose (which the daughter of a friend of mine does all the time, ugh) and you swapped the knee highs for a set of leggings would you still have an issue with it?

All that said, leggings or not it’s not a costumer I’d probably pick out for my daughter and if she picked it out I’d probably try to talk her into something else, like the Princess Leia white dress from ANH or a more realistic costume. The men’s body suit costumes are rediculous, and that model in the “sexy” Vader costume has either been photoshopped or needs to eat a few cheeseburgers.

        1. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m a woman and I wear an armored costume in the 501st legion ( http://www.wired.com/geekmom/2012/01/501st-legion-and-me/), but the skirt, the pose, the whole representation of the character in general bugs me. The little girl in the picture doesn’t look anything close to what I would call “cute” in this outfit.

Why can’t the little girls wear the same outfit as the boys or have a more “girl” look with pants instead of a skirt? When I was a little girl, I would have screamed if anyone had even though about putting me in a skirt.

I’m sure the Bratz costumes / Monster High are just as bad for little girls, but I’m not into that stuff, so I have scrutinized it (though it’s a good post idea for October…)

Looking at my update, I realize I worded it wrong. My intent was not to say that Costume Craze is calling these “Sexy” outfits, but that they are smaller designs of the sexy outfits. I apologize for the miswording on my part.

  1. Why does everything always have to be sexy. Leave Star Wars alone…. The costumes are awesome already.
