Ever since I attended a press roundtable for Da Vinci’s Demons at New York Comic Con in October, I’ve been eager to see the finished product. Especially since everyone interviewed, from series star Tom Riley to series creator David Goyer, were careful not to give too much away and made the show somewhat of a mystery.
That day is almost here. It premieres Friday, April 12th, at 10 p.m. EST.
Here’s what we know. Goyer calls the show a “historical fantasy.” It centers on Leonardo Da Vinci’s struggle to come to grips with his great, nearly super-human genius. He has a mysterious experience in a cave, he’s caught in a struggle among the great powers of the day, and between at least two women.
There are at least two actors familiar to geek audiences: Lara Pulver (Irene Adler in Sherlock)) as Clarice Orsini and Alexander Siddig (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Al-Rahim. And, of course, there’s Goyer’s involvement.
Given the premiere is on right after the finale of Spartacus: War of the Damned, I’ll be watching and hoping the show lives up to its billing.
