For the last year, I have been telling you about the rise of indie author Hugh Howey and his book Wool. Back in December, Howey was able to create a first in the world of publishing. He sold the print rights for Wool to Simon and Schuester but retained the digital rights. Howey is the first author under the new electronic self-publishing regime to be granted this contract. Along the way, he turned down seven figure deals in order to hold out for the contract he wanted. This morning, I snagged fifteen minutes of Howey’s time and talked to the personable author about his big day and his upcoming book tour. (You can find out if your city is included on Howey’s events calendar.) If you haven’t read Wool yet, head down to your local book store and get a copy, and if it isn’t prominently on display watch the video and you’ll know what to do.
